Case Discussion

An umbilical venous catheter may deviate left or right as it reaches the cross-roads with the left portal vein. If it deviates left, it follows the left portal vein to the left lobe of liver. If it deviates right, it usually extends into the right portal vein although it may loop backwards into the main portal vein.

In this case, the UVC tip is in the left portal vein.
