Presentation

History of uncontrollable seizures. Prior history of myasthenia gravis and has had a sternotomy.

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

What is this device ?

Prior sternotomy for thymectomy for myasthenia gravis. Left sided vagal nerve stimulator for uncontrollable seizures.

Case Discussion

Indication for this device are uncontrollable seizures on multiple medications, severe depression.

Always placed on one side, the left vagus nerve.

Important to note that sternotomies are not always for cardiac pathology/procedures, here it is for a thymectomy presumably for a thymoma resection.
