Case contributed by Dr Ian Bickle

Elderly female with abdominal pain. Concern of a bowel obstruction.

Patient Data

Age: 79
Gender: Female

Ring shaped density projected over the central pelvis, just above the pubic symphysis.

Case Discussion

Typically identified as an incidental finding in elderly females, vaginal ring pessary devices are medically placed and used to aid in the symptomatic control of uterine prolapse.

As the name indicates the device projects over the pelvis as a ring shape.
