Presentation

Increasing pain, worse on exercise.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
X-ray

Baseline: normal appearances.

Progression (1967): destruction of the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal shafts.  Soft tissue swelling.

Further progression (1968): involvement of the 1st and 4th metatarsal shafts and adjacent tarsal bones.

Case Discussion

Slow but progressive destruction of the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal shafts with associated soft tissue swelling.  The patient suffered from increasing pain which was worse on exercise.
