Vanishing twin phenomenon

Presentation

Young female had presented with four months amenorrhea for routine ultrasound scan.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

A single live fetus of 15 weeks gestation was seen within the gestational sac. Another small fetus like tissue of 6 weeks gestation was present separated from the larger fetus by a thin membrane. Cardiac activity was absent in the smaller fetus. Above features are in favor of vanishing twin syndrome
