Vascular stents and Paget disease on AXR

Abdominal pain

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Male

Abdominal x-ray


No bowel obstruction or pneumoperitoneum. Large volume solid feces in rectum.

Aortic and iliac stents.

Sternotomy wires and pacing device with partially images wires.

Trabecular coarsening of the left hemi-pelvis, particularly the ilium and femoral head, in keeping with Paget disease.

Case Discussion

A multitude of foreign bodies may be found on abdominal imaging. Always carefully evaluate the bones for changes such as those of Paget disease.
