Presentation

59-year-old female patient with bone lytic lesions, likely metastases. Previous breast cancer.

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female

Bone Scan

Nuclear medicine

There are suspected metastases in the right T12/T11 apophyseal joint and on the left side of the T11 body inferiorly as well as possibly right 9th rib laterally. 

CT-guiged vertebral biopsy

With the patient laying prone, CT scan was performed for planning purposes. A suitable skin site was identified and marked. The patient was prepped and draped in usual sterile fashion. Under light sedation with Midazolam and Fentanyl, as well as skin and periosteal local anesthesia with lignocaine 1%, CT-guided biopsy was performed through the lytic lesion on the left aspect of T11. Sample was placed in formalin.
