Three Phase Bone Scan + SPECT/CT
Vascular phase: In the posterior image (right side) there is a discrete increase in the flow of vertebral body of L4.
The tissue image does not show hyperemia data.
On SPECT/CT, there is a decreased mineral metabolism in the vertebral body of L4, which presents on CT a trabecular thickening with polka-dot sign.
The diagnosis by nuclear medicine is with 99mTechnetium radiolabelled red blood cells, with an increase of the uptake of the radiotracer. These are indirect findings by nuclear medicine of a vertebral hemangioma.
