Vertebral metastases in renal cell carcinoma

Patient presented with backache for 1 month.

Patient Data

Age: 30
Gender: Male

The L3 and L4 vertebrae are collapsed with multiple hypointense areas (fractures) with normal intervertebral discs and show contrast enhancement.

Case Discussion

This man had no urinary complaints. But survey scan (later on proven by biopsy) showed a mass in the left kidney which led to CT scan and biopsy of kidney. It was found to be renal cell carcinoma and the spine showed lytic metastases.
