Presentation

Neck pain radiating to the right shoulder.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

There is a cystic space of air density within C4 vertebral body at the anterior aspect of the superior endplate. There are degenerative changes involving the cervical spine.

Case Discussion

Vertebral pneumatocysts are air-filled cavities within the vertebral body more common in the cervical spine. The cause of air within the bone is unknown but it is believed to extend from intradiscal air.
