Vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia

Headache, dizziness and bilateral hemiparesis.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male


The basilar artery is dilated, elongated and tortuous. It compresses on the floor of the third ventricle causing mild obstructive hydrocephalus.

Case Discussion

Vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia is usually asymptomatic and <10% of the patients have neurological symptoms. This patient presented with headache, dizziness and bilateral hemiparesis.
