Comminuted intertrochanteric fracture of the left proximal femur, bilateral comminuted fractures of the pubic rami, and a vertical fracture of left ilium parallelling the left sacroiliac joint which is superiorly displacedsacral fracture, vertical shearing injury (Malgaigne fracture)

Case Discussion

Also known as a Malgaigne fracture, vertical shear injuries of the pelvis are secondary to high energy axial loading. They are unstable in both the vertical and rotation plane and have a high association with bladder and abdominal injuries.
