Info

Retrograde cystography demonstrates midline dilatation of the upper bladder wall, consistent with vesicourachal diverticulum. Significant bilateral vesicoureteral reflux was present. Contrast infusion was also performed through the cystostomy. No communication between the diverticulum and the urachus was observed.

Case Discussion

Vesicourachal diverticulum is a congenital urachal anomaly caused by the absence of obliteration of the urachus. Bladder stasis in the diverticular segment predisposes to recurrent urinary infections.
