Vesicoureteric reflux

Presentation

Case of urinary disease.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
Ultrasound

RIGHT KIDNEY

There is gross hydronephrosis and hydroureter up to the vesico-ureteric junction. Parenchymal thickness ranges from 7 to 11 mm. No renal calculus or mass lesion is seen. The right ureter is tortuous with a diameter of up to 25 mm. 

LEFT KIDNEY

There is gross hydronephrosis and hydroureter up to the vesico-ureteric junction. Parenchymal thickness range is 7 to 11 mm. No renal calculus or mass lesion is seen. The left ureter is tortuous with a diameter of up to 25 mm. 

URINARY BLADDER 

Bladder overdistension is demonstrated.

Pre-void volume - about 550 cc. 

There are bladder wall trabeculations with tiny echoes. A Foley's bulb is noted in situ. There is no stone or mass lesion .

There is reflux at both vesico-ureteric junctions.

Case Discussion

There is bilateral reflux nephropathy. There is bilateral vesicoureteric reflux seen with color Doppler as well as pulsed Doppler.
