Presentation

Hyperextension injury to his middle finger while playing football. The PIP joint was especially tender on the volar surface.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

On the lateral view X-ray a volar plate avulsion fracture of the middle phalanx can be seen, without major dislocation or subluxation.
