Presentation

History of pain and swelling at the left little finger since yesterday after trauma by a cricket ball, on examination: swelling, hotness bluish discoloration with tenderness over the left little finger.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
x-ray
  • Avulsion fracture of the base of the middle phalanx of the little digit along the volar aspect consistent with a volar plate injury.
  • No other fractures.
  • Mild soft tissue swelling is seen.

Case Discussion

Middle phalanx base fracture maybe a volar base, dorsal and lateral base

Can be also classified into partial articular fractures and complete articular fractures.​
