Presentation
Left loin to groin pain with dipstick hematuria. No known history of renal stone disease.
Patient Data
6mm left VUJ calculus ( annotated with the red triangle ).
Radio-opaque on plain film for follow up purposes.
CT-KUB confirms the left VUJ calculus - in the intravesical segment of the distal left ureter.
Resultant mild left nephrohydroureter with periureteric fat stranding.
Case Discussion
Urolithiasis is common. The single commonest site for a ureteric stone to lodge is in the vesicoureteric junction.
One may perform a limited repeat set of images in the prone position to identify if the stone has already passed into the urinary bladder.
