Walled-off pancreatic necrosis

Extensive encapsulated low attenuation of the pancreatic head, neck, body, and tail, compatible with an area of necrosis. A small area of preserved parenchyma in the head/ uncinate process and tail. No foci of gas within the collection. Findings are indicative of walled-off pancreatic necrosis.
Case Discussion
Walled-off necrosis of the pancreas is a sequelae of acute pancreatitis. Most morphological changes occur late in the course of acute pancreatitis which can present as a circumscribed area containing fluid and necrotic pancreatic debris replacing part of the pancreatic parenchyma, originating from a necrosis area.
