Old infarction follows the left MCA distribution with negative mass effect upon the left lateral ventricle. Abnormal hypodensity of the left cerebral peduncle with associated abnormal low-density tract extends in between the peduncle to the infarcted area. Likely represents a tract of gliosis which reflects the underlying process of Wallerian degeneration.
Case Discussion
A case demonstrating the radiographic features of Wallerian degeneration during its chronic stages of the corticospinal tracts following neuronal loss in the setting of cerebral infarction.
