Presentation

Slow growing right neck mass.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

The right parotid gland shows a well-defined heterogenous enhancing lesion with central necrosis and a focus of calcification in the superficial part of the gland without surrounding fat stranding or lymphadenopathy.

No obvious destructive bone lesion.

No left parotid lesion seen.

Case Discussion

Complete excision was done and the pathology report confirmed it to be a Warthin tumor (also known as (papillary cystadenoma lymphomatosum). They are the second most common benign tumors of the parotid gland and are twice as common in men than in women.

Most parotid tumors present as slow-growing, painless masses.
