Patient Data

Single column fracture of L3 vertebral body manifested by compresssion of the L3 superior end plate. Intact both anterior and posterior cortices. No spinal cord compression. Intact posterior neural elements.
Case Discussion
Single column fractures are fractures that involve the anterior 2/3 of the vertebral body and they are considered stable ones.
Compression fractures include the following:
1-Anterior wedging.
2-Compression of the superior end plate.
3-Cortical break of the upper anterior wall.
4-The posterior cortex is always intact.
Compression fractures are scored 1 on The Thoraco-Lumbar Injury Classification and Severity score (TLICS).
