Abdominal x-ray demonstrates a soft tissue opacity in the left upper quadrant, displacing adjacent loops of bowel.

Large, heterogeneous vascular mass involving the majority of the left kidney. The tumour is so large that there is an obvious bulge out of the child's abdomen.
Case Discussion
Young boy with a left sided Wilms tumour. The important finding which strongly points to the kidney as the site of origin of the mass is the so called claw sign; the renal parenchyma seems to embrace the mass, with sharp acute angles. An extra-renal mass would have obtuse angles.
