Woodworking injury of the left thenar region caused by a splinter a few months earlier, plain radiographs at the time were normal, the wound healed uneventfully. Recurrent swelling and tenderness in the same area. Foreign body? Abscess?

In the left thenar region two about 30 and 6 mm long reflecting, elongated foreign bodies are visible, surrounded by a 35 x 20 x 12 mm inhomogeneous hypoechogenic soft tissue mass showing internal vascularity.
Case Discussion
Remarkably large wood foreign bodies considering that they escaped detection until an associated foreign body granuloma developed.
