Wood foreign body

Stepped on toothpick ?foreign body.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female
No radiopaque foreign body identified.
Echogenic linear foreign body, consistent with a toothpick, measures approximately 35 mm in length is seen in the dorsal soft tissues overlying the space between the 3rd and 4th metatarsals

Case Discussion

Wood is not usually seen on radiographs but can be seen on CT, MRI and ultrasound. Negative radiographs cannot rule out a wooden foreign body.
