Small out pouching arising from the midline of the posterior wall of the distal pharynx near the pharyngoesophageal junction inferring Zenker diverticulum.
There is also a circumferential narrowing at the gastro-esophageal junction, a few centimeters above the diaphragmatic hiatus most consistent with Schatzki ring.
Additionally, sliding hiatal hernia is evident.
Case Discussion
Zenker diverticulum, also known as a pharyngeal pouch, is a posterior outpouching of the hypopharynx, just proximal to the upper esophageal sphincter.
A Schatzki ring is symptomatically narrow esophageal B-ring occurring in the distal esophagus and usually associated with a hiatus hernia.
