Viva Practice: Musculoskeletal
I have designed this learning pathway to be quite unique. Not only do you get to challenge yourself with a series of great musculoskeletal radiology cases (see overview), but you also get to hear a real exam candidate address each one under exam conditions, and watch me discuss the case and analyze the candidate's performance. I hope you find it a useful exercise - Andrew Dixon
The candidate featured in this learning pathway went on to pass the RANZCR part II MSK viva examination directly after these recordings were made. His oral technique and knowledge are at a very high level and we are very grateful that he agreed to be recorded.
- 21 practice cases (x-ray, CT, MRI, bone scan)
- 2.5 hours of video discussion and candidate recordings
- review slides, key tips and related articles
- English subtitles for all videos
"Excellent! Such a privilege to have exposure to this level of teaching."
"Simply put, this was the most coherent and best piece of preparation and teaching I have experienced."
This material is primarily intended for radiology trainees approaching oral (viva) fellowship examinations (eg. RANZCR part II, FRCR 2B). The cases and discussions are however likely to be of general interest to other radiology trainees and radiologists. Orthopedic surgeons, radiographers, physician assistants and physiotherapists may also find the content useful depending on experience level. In Australia? Pay in AUD instead

Audio transcriptHi my name is Andrew Dixon and I've designed this musculoskeletal viva practice learning pathway to be quite a unique experience and one that I hope you'll really enjoy. It's going to be of most use to anyone approaching an oral fellowship exam in radiology, although I suspect the cases and the discussions will be relevant to a lot other people out there as well.
So what is it? Well, it's a series of MSK radiology cases that you get to challenge yourself on and which touch upon a wide range of pathologies. There are x-rays, CTs, MRIs and even a bone scan. Below each case there's a video recording of a real candidate tackling the case under exam conditions, and then below that's a video discussion from me where I go through the findings and diagnosis, analyze the candidates performance and finish with a few tips. In total there are 14 case pages for you to work through, but in actual fact there are 21 cases as a lot of them are multi-case.
A few quick disclaimers. This is very exam focused case-based learning and so if you don't fall into that target audience then please bear that in mind when registering. Also, while I discuss what I think are the most relevant things for each case, there is a lot of assumed knowledge and so don't expect to learn absolutely everything about each pathology. In the end, this is really about gaining some exposure to a range of interesting cases, and learning some tips and tricks about to approach these types of cases in the exam setting.
So, if this all sounds like something that would interest you, then by all means register and I hope you enjoy the experience.
