Chondral delamination

Discussion:

Chondral delamination injuries are thought to be produced by shearing injury and involve a separation of the uncalcified articular cartilage from the calcified cartilage at the tidemark

Normally chondral injuries are associated with meniscal tears, delamination injuries however show no such association.

Identifying these injuries is crucial as surgical debridement upto the subchondral bone is required.
