Discussion:

Enchondromas are the most common benign primary bone tumor of the small tubular bones of the hands and feet. They appear most commonly as a geographic lucent lesion, centrally located within the metaphyseal region, and display varying degrees of calcification within their matrix. They can be mildly expansile with endosteal scalloping, and present a very low risk of malignant degeneration. Enchondromas are typically incidental findings, or may present with a pathological fracture through the lesion.
