Subacute lateral tibial condyle fracture with floating meniscus

Discussion:

Depressed subacute fracture of lateral tibial condyle with irregularity of overlying cartilage and mild surrounding marrow edema.

Fluid is seen underneath body of lateral meniscus, between body and lateral tibial condyle with possible tear of lateral meniscotibial ligament in keeping with meniscotibial avulsion. This has been described as the 'floating meniscus'.

Fluid is seen between the posterior horn of lateral meniscus and posterolateral joint capsule suggesting the possibility of meniscocapsular separation.
