Child is a known case of thalassemia. Had a bone marrow transplant recently.

Now presented with severe knee pain. A clinical diagnosis of transient synovitis was made. 

Reassurance was given to the parents. The child was advised to practice sports. They were asked to come for follow up in the clinic after 3 months.

Thalassemia is one of the known causes of dense metaphyseal bands.
