The appendix shows normal diameter (< 6 mm) and compressibility. The caecum and the terminal ileum show circumferential wall thickening. There is an outpouching from the medial caecal wall inferior to the ileocaecal junction. The outpouching shows a hypoechoic wall with internal air foci. It is surrounded by edematous, echogenic fat. There are subcentimeter-sized ovoid pericolic nodes, hypervascularity without any local fluid collection.
