The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is apolitical, a non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting and coordinating the scientific, philanthropic, intellectual, and professional activities of Radiology in all European countries. The society's mission at all times is to serve the health care needs of the general public through the support of science, teaching, research, and the quality of service in the field of Radiology nationally and internationally. It also monitors developments in the research and practice in radiology, with the best interests of the patient as its overriding goal.
The ESR was formed in 2005 from the amalgamation of the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and the European Association of Radiology (EAR). By membership it is the largest radiological society in the world, It's annual meeting, the ECR is held annually in March in Vienna.
