Mansoura faculty of Medicine is the first nucleus of Mansoura University and was established in 1962. The Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Department began as a department affiliated with the Department of Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine. In 1995, the two departments were separated.

The Department is divided into multiple units that are present in all Mansoura University Hospitals and centers including Mansoura University Children Hospital, Oncology Center, Gastro-intestinal Surgery Center, Specialized Medical Hospital, Emergency Hospital, Urology Center, and The Three New Medical Centers (Neurology, Neurosurgery Center, Orthopedic Center, and Obstetrics and Gynecology Center).

The department serves more than 150,000 patients per year and performs more than 200,000 radiological procedures every year including diagnostic and interventional procedures. The department provides training for master’s, doctorate degrees, Arabic board, and Egyptian fellowships.
