Approximately 68% of carcinoid tumors are found in the GI tract, and of these 9% are found in the stomach. Most GI carcinoid tumors are found within the ileum (about 40%). 13% of patients have metastases at time of diagnosis with an overall 5-year survival rate of 67%. 24% of patients have more than one tumor.
