How do epidermoid cyst compare to CSF in terms of intensity in T1 and T2 sequence?
Isointense
What is the most common location of intracranial epidermoid cysts?
Intradural - cerebellopontine angle
Which sequence is best used to distinguish Intracranial Epidermoid Cyst from Arachnoid Cyst?
DWI
In the right cerebellopontine angle a 12 mm diameter region of CSF intensity on all conventional sequences demonstrates prominent high signal on diffusion weighted imaging, and is associated with minor mass effect of the middle cerebellar peduncle. It does not appear to extend into the internal acoustic meatus, and is predominantly posterior to the 7th and 8th cranial nerves. The remainder of the brain is unremarkable with no intra or extra-axial abnormality.
Conclusion: Features are characteristic of a small right cerebellopontine angle epidermoid cyst.
