When do you do rolled and straight lateral views instead of magnification views?
There is no right or wrong answer. I guess it depends where you trained. My preference is for mag views of microcalcifications and rolled and straight lateral views of parenchymal asymmetries. But others will differ. I think that a mag view of a blob just gives you a bigger blob. I cannot recall ever having a parenchymal asymmetry cleared up by mag views; the majority are summation shadows that additional views clear up immediately.
This lesion in the left breast was considered to possibly be an intramammary lymph node but note the density of the lesion and the slightly spiculated margins.
