Nuchal translucency

Discussion:

Increased nuchal translucency (>95th percentile) is indicative of abnormal chromosomes (e.g. aneuploidy) and in the absence of this, it is still associated with increased risk of structural abnormality (e.g. major cardiac defects).

A more accurate risk assessment can be obtained when this measurement is combined with serum markers and maternal age.
