Breast augmentation with autologous tissues

Discussion:

Sonographic and mammographic findings of bilateral breasts complicated cysts with internal echogenic content. The diagnosis is dependent on the clinical history of subcutaneous injection for breast augmentation.

Breast augmentation is performed for cosmetic purposes and for the filling of defects from breast resection for breast cancer. Autologous breast augmentation occurs via fat injection into breast tissue. Complications include infection, fat necrosis, and calcification. Radiologically it will appear as mixed density opacities on the mammogram and complex cysts with internal echogenic content on ultrasound.
