The anterior talofibular ligament is the weakest of the lateral collateral ligaments. It extends from anterolateral malleolar tip to talar neck.
Osteochondral lesions (OCL) are an umbrella term for focal injury of articular cartilage and underlying bone:
- osteochondral injury (or fracture): usually reserved for acute osteochondral lesion
- osteochondritis dissecans (OCD): chronic osteochondral lesion
