Ileocecal intussusception due to large ileal lipoma

Discussion:

Striking case of ileocolonic intussusception with a large lipoma acting as a lead point. There appears to be a thin, fatty stalk connecting the lipoma to the terminal ileum. There is likely some reactive inflammation and/or congestion in the cecum, resulting in the slightly irregular appearance and fluid.

This patient was managed nonoperatively and had substantial improvement of his symptoms after vomiting and passing flatus. No further intervention was performed due to the patient's advanced age.
