Radial neck and olecranon fracture

Discussion:

Common pediatric injuries that cause elbow joint effusions include supracondylar, lateral condyle, and radial head and neck fractures. However, olecranon fractures are often found and frequently overlooked. They may only be visible on one view.

If there is an elbow fracture, look for an accompanying olecranon fracture. If there is an effusion and no clear cause, look for an olecranon fracture!
