What is the danger of estimating the extent of DCIS on mammography?
Mammography underestimates the extent of disease in DCIS
Why image the contralateral breast?
To get a baseline of the contralateral breast for future reference. Whatever triggered the disease in the right breast is presumably still there to do the same in the left breast.
Extensive ductal calcification throughout the right breast.
