Right lower lobe collapse

Discussion:

Features of right lower lobe collapse include:

  • triangular shaped opacity in retrocardiac region
  • loss of silhouette of medial aspect of the dome of right hemidiaphragm
  • depression of right hilum
  • descending right lower lobe pulmonary artery is not visualized

It is important to note that the right heart border, which is contacted by the right middle lobe remains well seen.
