Subependymal non-enhancing calcified nodules are seen. Does that exclude possibility of subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SGCA)?
Contrast enhancement is not a completely reliable criteria to distinguish SGCAs from run-of-the-mill nodules. Interval growth of the subependymal lesions should be assessed, especially those at the foramen of Munro.
Pre and post contrast CT scans through the brain demonstrate numerous calcified subependymal nodules. Heterogeneity of the sub-cortical white matter is also typical of hamartomas.
