Describe the size, shape, and distribution of the lung cysts.
Rounded lung cysts 5-10 mm in size. The majority of the lung parenchyma is involved. Cysts are equally distributed throughout the lung.
Based on the age, sex, and CT characteristics, what is the most likely unifying diagnosis?
Sporadic lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) or tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) with lymphangioleiomyomatosis.
What are the possible chest complications associated with this condition?
Pneumothorax, pleural and chylous effusion.
CT images demonstrate innumerable small regular lung cysts diffusely distributed throughout the lungs, the typical appearance of lymphangioleiomyomatosis. Upper abdominal image shows a fat-containing lesion within the left kidney, most likely a renal angiomyolipoma.
