Gross pathology
This resection specimen is orientated as if on an axial CT: top is anterior, bottom is posterior. The SMV groove is on the right hand side, and the duodenum on the left.
Including the head of pancreas, 5 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm.
The resected specimen contained a 3 cm ill-defined firm pale mass in the pancreatic head with no significant dilatation of the pancreatic duct and grossly normal pancreatic neck tissue
