What are the features of lobar pneumonia on plain film?
Characteristically, there is homogenous opacification in a lobar pattern. The opacification can be sharply defined at the fissures, although more commonly there is segmental consolidation. There may be presence of air bronchograms and volume loss in the affected areas.
Endotracheal tube and NGT inserted and repeat chest radiograph taken.
Severe right sided consolidation and large focal consolidation of the left mid zone with extension towards lung base.
