Presentation

Elderly man presenting with worsening exercise tolerance and shortness of breath.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Male

X-ray findings include:

  • mass like fibrotic conglomerates in the pulmonary upper lobes
  • calcified mediastinal lymphadenopathy
  • parenchymal calcification
  • mild pulmonary volume loss

Case Discussion

X-ray features, in this case, are consistent with silicosis with progressive massive fibrosis (PMF).

The patient featured here had a confirmed history of occupational silica exposure.
