Which criteria is the more dependable in trying to predict if a node is pathological, size or echogenicity?
Size is a bad predictor generally. You can gets metastatic cells in small nodes and large nodes may be negative. Decreased echogenicity seems to be key in the axilla, not size.
Lymph nodes are seen on axilla ultrasound.
First image shows a plump node with a preserved hilum. The node measured 16 mm in diameter.
Second image show nodes with no hilum at the same axilla. This node measured 12 mm.
