MRI
There is focal narrowing of the aorta approximately 1.7 cm from the take-off of the left subclavian artery. The stenotic segment measures 1.0 cm in diameter. Post-stenotic dilatation is observed. The left subclavian artery is prominent, measuring 1.5 cm in widest diameter. There are prominent vessels coming from the subclavian arteries and proximal thoracic aorta. These may reflect mild collateral vessel formation. Few of the intercostal vessels in the mid thoracic paraspinal region are also prominent than others. Overall findings are consistent with coarctation of the aorta.
